NINE ARRESTED ON NARCOTICS CHARGES
(11/8/2006) NEW HAVEN –At locations throughout the city, members of the Street Interdiction Team made several drug-related arrests yesterday, 7 November, and seized cash, drugs and other items.
Derrick Brock, 20, of West Haven, and a 17-year-old city man were arrested in the area of 718 Congress Avenue. Brock was charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics, conspiracy to possess narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell, conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission. The juvenile was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school and conspiracy on all the aforementioned charges. Police seized $308 in cash, 11 pieces of crack cocaine and four cell phones.
In the area of Washington Avenue and West Street, police arrested Troy Rigsbee, 20, of West Haven. He was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school and interfering with a police officer. Police seized $485 in cash, two bags of crack cocaine and one bag of marijuana.
Michael Kierce, 46, of 1401 Ella Grasso Boulevard, and John Mascia, 40, of West Haven, were arrested in the area of 1 Cinque Green. Both men were charged with trespass in the third degree. Kierce was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized one bag of marijuana.
In the area of 29 Norton Street, police arrested James Mabry, 18, of 591 Whalley Avenue. He was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $11 in cash and 12 bags of crack cocaine.
Carlos Johnson, 19, of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, and Tyrese Johnson, 25, of New York, New York, were arrested in the area of Ella Grasso Boulevard and Whalley Avenue. Carlos Johnson was charged with interfering with police and making an improper U-turn. Tyrese Johnson was arrested with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $163 in cash and two bags of marijuana.
In the area of Clover and Truman streets, Levi Stanley, 42, of West Haven, was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, misuse of a marker plate, insufficient insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to signal and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Police seized two bags of crack.
